The Beaver Watershed Alliance (Alliance) and multiple community partners will host the 18th Annual West Fork White River Cleanup on Saturday, November 4th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm as part of the Northwest Arkansas Community clean up initiative, Pick Up Where You Play. Volunteers will help remove litter and bulky waste in the West Fork watershed, a sub-watershed of Beaver Lake. This cleanup will not only beautify trail and streamside areas in our community but will also keep trash from entering Beaver Lake, the source of Northwest Arkansas’ drinking water.
Volunteers can check in at Riverside Park in West Fork. There will be multiple cleanup locations ranging from trail, land, and in-stream. Cleanup supplies will be provided at check-in and volunteers will be assigned to a cleanup site. After the cleanup, volunteers are invited to Riverside Park for raffle prizes and snacks. As part of the Pick Up Where You Play initiative, all participants 18 and up will also be entered to win the grand prize of a two-night stay and float trip for four on the Elk River in Missouri!
This event is made possible by support from Beaver Water District, Boston Mountain Solid Waste, American Electric Power Foundation, H2Ozarks, Keep Arkansas Beautiful, Gracie’s Canoe Club, Tegna Foundation, Cargill Cares, University of Arkansas Extension, and the Watershed Conservation Resource Center.
Location: Meet at Riverside Park in West Fork for supplies, then head to a designated cleanup area with a site leader. Return to Riverside Park to drop off trash and for your chance to win fun raffle prizes!
Time: Saturday, November 4th, 1 – 3 pm
